Leeds transfer news: Business is set to pick up next week

The Championship side have pulled off a stunning coup in getting Bielsa on board and they won’t be waiting around to get some top class players on board to play for him.

Instead the Yorkshire giants are set to make big changes as the Argentine coach looks to whip the squad into shape ahead of a promotion charge next term.

Sky Sports News reporter Tim Thornton revealed on the Transfer Talk podcast: “First things firsts, I know that discussions have taken place with director of football Victor Orta already over potential signings. They are already moving with this one.

“I expect things to ramp up on the transfer front next week when Bielsa arrives”

“I expect things to ramp up on the transfer front next week when Bielsa arrives.

“He’s due to take his first training session with the players next Monday.

“They are going to bring players in, absolutely, but what you’ll find this summer it will be maybe three or four high quality signings rather than what they’ve had in the past.

“They’ve brought numbers in but not necessarily with the quality.

“You’ll be surprised to know he does watch a lot of Championship football. He watched every game since late last season.”

He added: “It’s a huge surprise. Nobody expected it but when you look at the appointments Leeds have made over the last few years, they’ve pretty much all been a surprise.

“This is the most high profile, he’s got a track record and he’s got great contacts as well which may work in Leeds’ favour further down the line.”
